"Independent record stores play a vital role in selling music from the fringe as well as the mainstream." --Neil Tennant, Pet Shop Boys Saturday 17th April marks this special day where music lovers around the world can show their appreciation for that bastion of music cultivation – the record shop.
To celebrate, there’re some intriguing exclusive new releases and reissues from the likes of Pet Shop Boys, Rolling Stones, Hot Chip, Foals and Blur, their first new material for 7 years and ltd to 1000 for the world!
There’s a whole plethora of fantastic events across 150 UK record stores and in London town Rough Trade East and West are hosting free live performances from the Magic Numbers, Ash, Laurie Anderson and many others.
In the mean time, check out favourite record stores from Johnny Marr, Hot Chip, The Editors as other.
