Saturday 17th April marks this special day where music lovers around the world can show their appreciation for that bastion of music cultivation – the record shop.
To celebrate, there’re some intriguing exclusive new releases and reissues from the likes of Pet Shop Boys, Rolling Stones, Hot Chip, Foals and Blur, their first new material for 7 years and ltd to 1000 for the world!
There’s a whole plethora of fantastic events across 150 UK record stores and in London town Rough Trade East and West are hosting free live performances from the Magic Numbers, Ash, Laurie Anderson and many others.

Status Quo get honoured by the Palace
Know as the hardest working band in Britain, Status Quo's Rick Parfitt and Francis Rossi get awarded OBEs by Her Majesty in recognition of their career success including more than 118 million record sales worldwide.
Asked what he thought about the situation, Francis Rossi replied*:

Formed in 1975, Steel Pulse were an influential UK reggae band led by David Hinds. Many of their songs centred on the racism and rioting that occurred in their hometown of Handsworth in Birmingham, to which the album Handsworth Revolution referred, and elsewhere across the country. The album was met with such acclaim that the group supported Bob Marley and The Wailers on their European tour later that year.
