In Conversation with James Walsh

Amidst the continuing success of indie giants Starsailor, singer, songwriter James Walsh has been “experimenting on lap tops” and collaborating with other artists to generate his own solo work.

With the band on hold James has toured with Sheryl Crow and recorded an EP of work with Norway’s Tromsø Orchestra, all of which are mounting credentials for an independent song writer.

It was whilst working with Sacha Skarbek, (producer for Duffy and Adele) that he began writing for others, clearly enjoying the process James commented on the spontaneity of “Writing a song in an afternoon and the next thing you know someone’s on TV singing it. It’s really exciting”.

Older and wiser he’s looking forward to “doing something different for a while”, setting off in a new direction but touching people once again, which could include anything from writing more songs with Suzanne Vega or fulfilling a lifetime ambition to write with Shelby Lynne. And making what promises to be a very adventurous solo album.
