Christmas at the British Music Experience

Come and join us this festive season, from mince pies to live music we have something for everyone!

Exhibition

Since the charts began in 1952, the UK Christmas No.1 has always been a source of anticipation and excitement. With the ability to secure an artist’s place in pop music history and earn a serious amount of cash, it has long been a coveted top spot.

Our temporary exhibition of Christmas No.1s past and present will be on display throughout December in the main space.  We have a range of artefacts on display, including vinyl, promo posters and sheet music which map the history of the No.1 from Dickie Valentine in 1955, via Glam Rock and Band Aid, all the way up to the talent show dominance and subsequent decline in the noughties.  Everyone has a favourite Christmas No.1, share yours with us using the hashtag #BMEChristmas

On the Main Stage

Every 40 minutes on the main stage, we will be showing our Christmas showcase – a montage of famous British Christmas songs mixed with clips of the best festive television shows, as voted for by our crew!
