In Conversation with Kevin Cummins

Event Ended

Join us for an In Conversation with legendary photographer Kevin Cummins, focusing on his new publication Morrissey: Alone and Palely Loitering.

The images in this book chronicle Morrissey's world as he emerged from The Smiths and established himself as a solo artist. Hundreds of previously unseen photographs cover chaotic live performances, intimate portrait sessions and snatched moments backstage and on tour over a ten-year period. Cummins provides insightful commentary on the art of photography and what it was like to work and travel with Morrissey.

Manchester-born Kevin Cummins has an international reputation as one of the world's leading photographers and is famed for his iconic portraits of musicians including Joy Division, David Bowie, Nick Cave, Mick Jagger, Patti Smith and Oasis. These photographs have appeared on magazine covers and in art galleries and museums including the National Portrait Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and in cities including New York, Buenos Aires, Berlin, Bologna and many others. Chief photographer at the NME for over ten years, Kevin captured some of the best known images in modern music history - his work has decorated bedroom walls the world over.

Kevin will be interviewed by musician/author/broadcaster Peter Hooton. Peter is the vocalist with Liverpool band The Farm who were themselves photographed many times by Kevin. The Farm had a Number One album with Spartacus and are best probably known for their anthemic single All Together Now.  Peter’s latest book ‘The Boot Room Boys’ was published in September 2018.
