Share your memories at our free Reminiscence Sessions. We’ll provide photographs and items to inspire your recollections of a particular aspect of life related to Liverpool and music. Come along and meet new friends, share memories and enjoy a chat over tea or coffee.
Reminiscence Sessions are suitable for visitors aged 55+.
UPCOMING DATES AND THEMES
Reminiscence sessions take place on the second Wednesday of each month.
All sessions start at 11.00am and last for an hour.
Session One: Baby Boomers and War Time Britain 10/07/2019
From baby boomers to the blitz World War 2 had a lasting legacy on everyone and for the generations to come. In honour of 75 years since D Day the BME will be hosting a special Reminiscence session in conjunction with Western Approaches who will be bringing items from their own collection for us to explore. We want you to share your memories and stories of this time as well as bringing any memorabilia you yourself may have. We will also be having tea and cake and listening to some war time classics.
Sessions Two: Billy Fury Half Way to Paradise: 14/08/2019
The Fifties was full of Fury for Liverpool. This Month the BME will be looking at Billy Furies influence on the culture and fashion at that time specifically the Teddy Boy scene. Come on down and share your memories of the Teddy boys and girls: where you one? Do you have any memorabilia or photos of you at that time? We’d love to see it and share in your memories.
Sessions Three: Holidays: 11/09/2019
Exploring the places and stories of Summer Holidays in the fifties and sixties. From New Brighton pier to Colwyn Bay we’ll be looking at the seaside destinations that got you packing your bags and laying out the beach towel. We’ll also be looking at the music that made your holidays unforgettable.
Session Four: Matthew Street and Erics: 9/10
This October we will be looking at Matthew street and the pivotal role it played in helping to shape the club scene of Liverpool. We’ll be taking a gander back through the night club hot spot Erics looking at how it played a part in shaping the Punks of Liverpool allowing for a sub culture scene to be born.
Session Three: School Days: 13/11/2019
School days are meant to be the best days of your life? But what were your school days like in Liverpool? From Latin to Maths we’ll be looking at the subjects, teachings, School lunches and playground games we want to hear the stories that made your school years unforgettable
Session Six: A Trip across the Boards: 11/12/2019
Come and chart the history of Liverpool’s theatrical landscape. From the Empire to the Royal Court we’ll be looking at local playwrights and the impact they made locally and nationally. We’ll also be having a bit of a sing-a-long to some of the famous musicals that were born out of the city.
