Now extended until Sunday 13th January!
Following a successful run at The Charlatans’ North By Northwich Festival in May, the band’s exhibition is now at the BME! Over 5,000 people visited the exhibition in Northwich, travelling from as far Tokyo, Utah, Dallas and from all over Europe.
The band represent one of the great success stories of British music of the last 30 thirty years. From the release of their first singles back in 1990 with Indian Rope and The Only One I Know right through to their most recent albums Different Days and Modern Nature, they have remained relevant throughout and as a result have loyal fan base that mixes fans both old and new.
Our exhibition has taken the Northwich exhibition artefacts and set them in our museum environment. Several exhibits including photographs, gold discs and Jon’s drum kit, are free to view in our foyer and Star Café, with the rest being housed in our main space (ticketed entry required). As part of your general ticket entry price, you’ll receive an exclusive exhibition print and will have full access to the rest of the Experience.
Inside the Experience, there are two dedicated areas full of Charlatans memorabilia – one dedicated to the band and the other to the fans. Amongst the many items on display, you’ll find instruments, clothing, handwritten lyrics, rare prints, set lists and even the first contract the band ever signed.
The audio-visual elements of the exhibition include two very special holographic performances on our main stage. Tim recorded both Plastic Machinery and The Only One I Know especially for us and he appears on the main stage regularly throughout the day. A great big thank you to Tim, as well as the filmmakers Darren, Chris and Charlie from Your Favourite Story.
You can play on the Charlatans app and watch videos and interviews through the ages, as well as sit and look through Tim’s own scrapbook collection.
Our Star Café is selling Tim Peaks coffee and Yorkshire Tea from Taylors of Harrogate, and you’ll be able to listen to a playlist put together by the band of songs that have influenced and inspired them over the years.
Our Merch Store has a great range of Charlatans items for sale, including adult and kids’ t-shirts, prints, photographs, vinyl, limited edition vinyl slip mats and customised Liverpool Maps from Dave Draws.
A massive thanks from us to the band for the loan of all the artefacts and for their general support throughout this exhibition.
