A 25th anniversary screening of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ French TV documentary
25 Years after Noé Productions' TV documentary 'You'll Never Walk Alone', Nothingville Music presents a one-off screening with the film with a panel discussion and Q&A featuring the film's writer Evelyne Ragot and special guests.
The film, which captures life in and around Liverpool music of the early nineties features Ian McCulloch, Michael and John Head of Shack, Edgar Jones and many other 'faces' from the city's music scene.
The Noé Productions team caught Liverpool at a crucial moment in its history. Suffering from years of under investment and neglect, the city was experiencing dark times. Amidst that darkness, the film finds a burgeoning music scene as one of the true backbones of Liverpool's many strengths.
The 25 years following the documentary's filming have seen huge investment - both private and European funding - and have seen Liverpool become European Capital Of Culture. Today Liverpool looks and feels a very different place.
As we walk the streets, its easy to miss the giant steps we've taken as a city in the last quarter of a century. Yet still there is the music; a scene as strong and productive as its always been. It never stops.
You'll Never Walk Alone has only been shown on a big screen in Liverpool once before; back in 1992. The evening will share this special piece in the city's history once more, with members of the original Noé Productions team and special guests.
