Producer Series: William Orbit Masterclass
Thursday 9th September 2010 - FREE EVENT

"You’ve got to sign up 100% to the idea of being the 'producer' and not competing with the artist for attention. That’s why I like it, I get plenty of opportunity elsewhere to do my thing, but you’ve got to pick artists that you totally 'get'. I’ve been lucky in that respect, and I couldn’t do it otherwise."
William Orbit
We're delighted to welcome William Orbit for our next
Producer Masterclass on
Thursday 9th September.
With credits ranging from
Malcolm McLaren to
Madonna, along with
Blur,
Beth Orton,
Depeche Mode,
Katie Melua,
Kraftwerk and
U2, he has helped shape the sonic landscape of these world renowned artists and many others.
In addition to being a producer, Orbit is a specialist in keyboard electronica with an accomplished rich body of solo work of pioneering sounds including his hugely successful
Pieces in a Modern Style albumincluding the glorious Ferry Corsten remix of Samuel Barber’s “Adagio For Strings”.
The newly released sequel,
Pieces in a Modern Style 2, is long overdue, and it proves confidently to be well worth the wait. For this album, Orbit brings us arrangements of works both well known and less familiar, by
Vaughan Williams, Grieg, Bach, Tchaikovsky, Bellini, Porpora and given them an interpretation that could only be the result of his deep exploration of classical music and his years of immersion and Zen-like understanding of electronic instrumentation.
