Nicki French: In Conversation

8 May 2023 - 7pm

Please note this is a change to the original line-up as unfortunately Lyn Paul is no longer able to appear for personal reasons.

As part of our week-long Eurovision events programme leading up to the Grand Final, we're thrilled to welcome a UK Eurovision star to BME for an evening in conversation. Nicki French performed Don't Play that Song Again in the 2000 contest in Stockholm.

Nicki was already a HUGE fan of the Eurovision Song Contest when she was approached to sing Don’t Play That Song Again in the Song for Europe.  After the Radio 2 listeners voted it into the final four, Nicki comfortably won the public’s vote – and support – thus fulfilling her childhood dream of representing her country at Eurovision in Stockholm, an experience she classes as ‘the most magical week of my life’.  Although it didn’t win, the UK delegation did win one award – for Best Party during the week of rehearsals! Nicki’s popularity in Sweden since then is such that she was one of the headline acts at Stockholm Pride in 2001.  In the Summer of 2003 she was invited to return and performed again – this time with her live band and singers.

All tickets to this event are £17 and give general entry access to the museum for one whole year.  If you're in town for Eurovision prior to the event, feel free to come to BME and redeem the Annual Pass when you like.
