Caitlin Gilligan
Sunday 5 April, 2.15pm
Scottish folk multi-instrumentalist Caitlin Gilligan hails from the rolling hills of rural Galloway. Though now based in Liverpool, her songs still echo the wildness of her Scottish youth.
Her live performances combine haunting vocals, acoustic guitar, banjo and harmonium to create soul-stirring drones and melodies, weaving age-old folk songs into sets of bare-boned and poetically-crafted originals. She demonstrates refreshing insight whilst simultaneously summoning the voices of times gone by.
She draws much from the well of folk giants such as Anne Briggs, Nick Drake, Lisa O'Neill and Lankum as well as the traditional vocal music of Scotland, Ireland and America.
Danny Bradley
Sunday 12 April, 2.15pm
Winner of the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, Danny Bradley is a Folk musician and fingerstyle-guitarist who has toured the U.K. as the support act for Richard Thompson, and Fairport Convention. He has also opened for Martin Carthy, Tony McManus, and Jon Gomm.
Born in the USA, but having grown up in the UK, Danny has been described by Americana as UK "less a one man band, and more a one man orchestra... A poetic soul, and a sublime vocal range, reminiscent of the late Jeff Buckley". Danny's debut album 'Small Talk Songs' is available now
Tom Blackwell
Sunday 19 April, 2.15pm
Tom Blackwell is an acclaimed Liverpool-based Americana singer-songwriter known for soulful, roots-country, and folk-blues music, often praised for his authentic, gritty storytelling. His work, including the 'Memphis Volumes', blends traditional American roots with Merseyside storytelling, supported by figures like Bob Harris.
A prolific writer with a visceral and dynamic performance style, Blackwell has been playing across the UK and beyond for the last 15 years. He has shared the stage with artists such as legendary Love guitarist Johnny Echols, and supported many other illustrious names including Terry Reid, Hurray For The Riff Raff and Joshua Ray Walker.
Jessica Dives
Sunday 26 April, 2.15pm
Born in the South East and adopted by the North West, “exciting new talent”(Americana UK) Jessica Dives is an up and coming Folk Singer Songwriter with a “welcome vibrancy” (FATEA)
For Jessica - storytelling is paramount. She allows her fixation and fascination with people and stories to guide her and, with a long established background in theatre, has a natural and captivating confidence in performance.
Jessica delights and hypnotises with “Heartfelt and earnest storytelling”(Americana UK) and catchy, soaring melodies, delivered with a vocal quality that stops you in your tracks - a voice compared to powerful voices such as Eddi Reader and Sarah Harmer. Her blend of personal and traditional folklore focussed on the intersection of the natural and emotional world results in a body of work that warms the listener through and lingers long after.
Jessica was the winner of Lichfield Songwriting Competition 2025, Liverpool Songwriting Challenge 2024, has received BBC radio play, and supported folk acts such as Katie Spencer, Megson and Kathryn Williams. As a featured artist in the FATEA Spring 2025 Showcase download and a shortlisted artist for the Purbeck Valley Rising 2025 competition, she is proving she is here to stay.
Edgar Jones
Sunday 3 May, 2.15pm
Twenty years ago, Edgar Jones released the Mercury Prize-nominated Soothing Music for Stray Cats, featuring an incredible mixture of New Orleans R&B, rock'n'roll, early soul, doo-wop and bebop jazz.
Noel Gallagher simply had this to say: “It bent my head, man. It's probably one of the best records I have ever heard. " amongst others, Edgar has played with Johnny Marr, Paul Weller, Ian McCulloch, Saint Etienne and the La's. His nineties group, The Stairs, are perhaps the ultimate Liverpool cult band.
As a solo artist and with various groups, he has an astonishing body of work, both behind him and, no doubt, in front of him. A stunning live performer, Edgar Jones is going to blow your mind.
