It’s a real pleasure to welcome former members of The Fall, Steve and Paul Hanley, to the British Music Experience to record an episode of their acclaimed Oh! Brother podcast in front of a live audience.

For this episode they will be joined by special guest and Liverpool legend David ‘Yorkie’ Palmer who caught the band numerous times as they established themselves as one of post-punk’s prime movers.

In an event of two halves, Steve and Paul Hanley will first be in conversation with best-selling author and former multi-award-winning journalist Paddy Shennan - the author of Not JUST About The Fall: 50 Adventures In A Post-Punk Paradise, which reveals how his life changed in 1979 when, as a 15-year-old, he heard Rowche Rumble on the John Peel show.  His bedroom band The Ambitious Merchants even released a cassette called Eating Apple Crumble Whilst Listening To Rowche Rumble. And, like David "Yorkie" Palmer, Paddy's favourite Fall LP is Dragnet.

He saw The Fall on countless occasions and daydreamed about joining the group when he was 16. But then he told himself "No, that's a ridiculous idea, I'm far too young" - before learning The Fall had recruited Paul Hanley, who actually was 16 (though Paul did have the advantage of being able to play the drums!)

Many years later, Mark E. Smith told Paddy, then the chief feature writer on the Liverpool Echo: "Liverpool was the first town to recognise The Fall."

After a short break Steve and Paul will be recording their podcast episode with former Space and The Dance Party member, Yorkie, as their guest.

It should be a hugely entertaining evening.
