Prince: Sign O' The Times - Book Event with John McKie
Saturday 29 November, 2pm
Join us for an exclusive conversation with John McKie — former editor of Smash Hits and Q magazine — as he discusses his debut book, Prince: A Sign O’ The Times.
Spend an afternoon exploring the genius of one of the most electrifying artists of the past 50 years, viewed through the prism of his masterpiece: the Sign O’ The Times double album. McKie will unpack not only the making of this iconic record but also the traits that defined Prince as a singular, boundary-breaking superstar.
A labour of love more than five years in the making, McKie’s book — published by Bonnier/Blink in September — spans over 500 pages and draws on 220 brand-new interviews. From Los Angeles and Minneapolis, where the album came to life, to conversations in Tennessee, Wyoming, New Mexico, Australia, and across Europe, McKie pieces together a global portrait of creativity, mystery, and musical brilliance.
Featuring insights from Prince’s engineers, bandmates, friends, and former partners — as well as collaborators Sly Stone, David Bowie, Joni Mitchell, James Brown and Carlos Santana — this is an unparalleled look at what made Prince one of the most extraordinary artists of our time.
Admission is free. Seats allocated on a first come first served basis.
Copies of the book will be available to buy and be signed by the author.
